KVK-Alappuzha organized harvest festival/field day at Kainakari panchayath of Kuttanad

           Technology demonstration on “Resource conserving and eco friendly management practices in paddy” was conducted in an area of  2 ha involving 5 farmers in Kainakari Panchayath of Kuttanad region during the puncha (November – March) season 2015-16. Resource conserving and eco friendly technologies like sowing using drum seeder, soil test based dolomite/lime and fertilizer management, eco friendly pest and disease management using pseudomonas and trichocards were adopted as a package which offered higher yield, climate resilience in terms of non- lodging, reduced use of chemicals, and enhanced net profit.

           Harvest festival in Kainakari panchayath was conducted at Umbukkattusserry padasekharam on 17.03.06. The programme was inaugurated by Smt. L.Sreelekha, Project Director, ATMA, Alappuzha. She assured that the farmer friendly technologies promoted by KVK will be popularized in the district through ATMA programme. Dr. P. Muralidharan, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK –Alappuzha, Smt. N. Remadevi, Assistant Director of Agriculture, Champakulam, Smt. K. J. Mercy, Agricultural Officer, Mr. M. S Rajeev, Subject Matter Specialist, KVK, Sri K. B. Prasannakumar, Secretary, Umbukattuserry padasekhara samithy, and Mr. V.K. Santhoshkumar, partner farmer spoke on the occasion.
