KVK Activities (2016-17) launched in Mannanchery and Mararikulam South Grama Panchayaths of Alappuzha district
Launching programme of the KVK activities (2016-17) in Mannanchery and Mararikulam South Grama panchayaths was inaugurated by Dr. Thomas Isaac, Hon’ble Minister for finance, Govt. of Kerala on 30th July, 2016 at Aryad Block Panchayath hall. Hon. Minister in his address appreciated the initiatives by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra in the district and shared ideas to embark the jackfruit promotion programme utilising the fund allocated in the revised Kerala budget (2016-17). Shri.G.Venugopal, President, Alappuzha District Panchayath presided over the function. Adv. S.D.Venukumar, Chief Reporter, Mathrubhumi, Alappuzha; Smt. K.S.Sapheena, ADA, Alappuzha; Dr. Suresh .P.Panicker, Senior Veterinary Surgeon, Mannanchery; Smt.L.Susmitha, Dairy Development Officer, Aryad and Shri. M.S.Rajeev , Subject Matter Specialist, KVK spoke on the occasion.
The Chief guest released the bio pesticide ‘Nanma’ prepared in the KVK with technology support from ICAR-CTCRI, used for the control of banana pseudo stem weevil. Critical inputs for some of the interventions planned viz. Micro nutrient mixture “AYAR” recommended for banana and Aseel breed of poultry were also handed over to partner farmers by the Chief Gust. Latest issue of the KVK Newsletter (Vol 14 (2)) was released during the occasion. Prizes to the winners of the quiz competition held in connection with Environmental day celebration were distributed. The Hon. Minister was felicitated on the occasion in recognition of the services for the promotion of Jackfruit in Kerala.
About 200 persons including farmers, Grama Panchayath Members, Officers of the line departments, and Kudumbasree attended the programme. It is planned to focus the farmer participatory On Farm Testings, Front Line Demonstrations, trainings and extension activities of the KVK for the year in this Gramapanchayaths.
