ICAR-KVK-Alappuzha organised the ‘Sankalp Se Sidhi -New India Movement 2017-2022’ programme on 29.08.2017 at the auditorium of ICAR-CPCRI, Regional Station, Kayamkulam, to commemorate the 75th anniversary and determination behind Quit India Movement. The programme aimed to propagate the action plan in terms of the seven point programme to double the farmer’s income by 2022. The programme was inaugurated by Sri. K. K. Anil Kumar, Councillor, Kayamkulam Muncipality. Dr. V. Krishnakumar, Head, ICAR-CPCRI, Regional Station presided the function in which Sri. Alex C. Mathew, Project Director, ATMA-Alappuzha delivered the key note address and Sri P.K. Anilkumar, Assistant Director of Agriculture, Kayamkulam lead the pledge on doubling the farmers income by 2022. Dr. P. Muralidharan, Principal Scientist and Head, ICAR-KVK-Alappuzha presented an overview of the seven point programmes implemented by government of India for the welfare of farmers including Pradhan Manthry Fasal Bhima Yogana (PMFBY), Krishi Sinchayi Yojana, National Soil Health Card Programme, e NAM portal, Rashrtiya Gokul Mission, Paramparya Krishi Vikas Yojana etc. The inspirational film was projected for the audience. An agricultural seminar on ‘Doubling farmers income through Integrated Farming Systems’ led by Dr. P. S John, Professor (Retd.), Kerala Agricultural University was also conducted as part of the programme. An agricultural exhibition on various agricultural technologies was also arranged for the benefit of farmers. About 200 farmers and entrepreneurs actively participated in the programme.
