Ms. Geetha Lekshmi started the unit in 2011 as a family venture and was engaged in producing the coconut products like VCO, Chutney powder, Theeyal mix and fish curry mix, coconut based traditional bakery products and are marketed under the brand name “Chithus” through the outlets of Triveni, a State Government Organization, super markets and bakeries throughout Kollam District. KVK provided training, follow up services, unit visit, project proposal for availing credit facility, linked them with machinery suppliers, packing material suppliers and marketing channels. Financial outlay of the unit is Rs.15 lakh including building and machineries. She is giving regular employment to 8 housewives for production and packing of products and two youths are engaged in marketing. Her unit is equipped with labour saving devices like pulveriser, double scraper, and screw press, bar coder, hot air oven, automatic roasting machine and sealing machine.
